I’m so glad you’re here.

Here’s a little bit about myself -

My name is Whitney Humphry (she/her/hers) and I am a mental health professional passionate about helping individuals discover & connect with their authentic selves. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors offering therapy in Vancouver, BC on the unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish,) S’ólh Téméxw (Stó:lō), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh).

My professional background includes 7+ years of working in education as an elementary school teacher. In this role, I have had the privilege of supporting children, youth, and families from diverse backgrounds to feel more safe and empowered in their lives. As someone who has always had a greater tendency to ask an individual who they are rather than what they know, my shift into counselling felt both inevitable and truly aligned with my values, goals, and dreams.

With that said, I come to therapy as my full authentic self and believe that in order to work well together we must both be willing to be vulnerable in our connection. Through genuine compassion and curiosity, I support individuals to deepen their understanding of themselves by exploring and embracing their unique parts of self. I believe that the key to change is often closer than we may think, and that therapy can act as an invitation to lean into your innate strengths and wisdom.

My work with individuals is grounded in the belief that you are your own expert. I also believe that in order to understand what is going on for you right now, it can be helpful to look at what has happened to you in the past. I do my best to engage and connect with people in the here-and-now, attending to what comes up in the mind and body with genuine curiosity, warmth and care. I approach all clients with an attitude of openness and acceptance with the hope that you may feel less alone in your emotional pain.

My approach is informed by the following theories & modalities:

Trauma informed practice

Person-centered therapy

Relational cultural therapy

Feminist theory

Anti-oppressive practice

Attachment theory

Body-based (somatic) and mindfulness therapy

Parts therapy
